Simla Not Mt. Everest - Shankar, India, 1945.

In June 1945, Wavell returned to India after consultations with the British Government. In a broadcast soon after, he made new proposals for constitutional reform and invited the leaders of the Indian political parties for talks in Simla. Gandhi agreed to be present in Simla at the time of the meeting though he would not participate in it. Gandhi is seen explaining to Wavell that his aim and that of the Congress was full independence, which was far removed from the meagre offer he had made.
