Mrs. H.S.L. (Millie) Polak, the founder of the Transvaal Indian Women's Association. Accompanied her husband to India, in 1911, and upon his imprisonment in 1913 as a Passive Resister, left for India alone to carry messages and to attend the Indian National Congress, but was recalled by the Hon. Mr. Gokhale, c. 1910.
