Known as the nightingale of India, Sarojini Naidu was a distinguished poet, renowned freedom fighter and one of the great orators of her time. In August 1914, she met Mahatma Gandhi, who totally directed her energy towards the fight for freedom, resulting in a series of letters exchanged between Gandhi and Sarojini Naidu till Gandhi's death in 1948 - letters of amazing honesty, beauty, humour and truth - letters which tell the tale of the freedom struggle, and the tale of a deep, probing relationship.
